FAQs about
6 Days Classic Tour to Cairo, Luxor, Aswan and Abu Simble Sightseeing

What is the best time to visit Egypt?

The best time to visit Egypt is from October to April, when the weather is mild and pleasant. The summer months (May to September) are very hot and dry, especially in the south. However, this is also the low season, so you can find cheaper prices and less crowds.

What are the visa requirements for Egypt?

Most visitors need a visa to enter Egypt, which can be obtained online (e-visa), on arrival, or from an Egyptian embassy or consulate. The visa fee is $25 USD and the validity is 30 days. You need a valid passport with at least six months of remaining validity and a blank page for the visa stamp. Some countries are exempt from the visa requirement, such as Bahrain, Hong Kong, Kuwait, Lebanon, Macau, Oman, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE. For more information, please check the official website of the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

What are the health and safety precautions for Egypt?

Egypt is generally a safe and friendly country, but you should exercise caution and common sense when traveling. Avoid political demonstrations, respect the local customs and dress code, and beware of scams and touts. You should also drink only bottled water, avoid ice and raw food, and bring your own medication and sunscreen. It is recommended to get vaccinated for hepatitis A, typhoid, and tetanus before your trip. You may also need malaria prophylaxis if you are traveling to certain areas, such as the oases or the Sinai Peninsula. For more information, please consult your doctor and the World Health Organization website.

What are the tipping and bargaining practices in Egypt?

Tipping, or baksheesh, is a common and expected practice in Egypt. You should tip anyone who provides you a service, such as drivers, guides, hotel staff, restaurant staff, etc. The amount of tip depends on the quality of service and your satisfaction, but a general rule is to tip 10% of the bill or 5-10 EGP per person. You can tip in Egyptian pounds or US dollars, but make sure to have small bills or coins handy. Bargaining is also a part of the culture in Egypt, especially in markets and souvenir shops. You should always negotiate the price before buying anything and never accept the first offer. A good tip is to start with half of the asking price and work your way up until you reach a fair deal.

What are the cultural and religious aspects of Egypt?

Egypt is a predominantly Muslim country, with a minority of Christians (mostly Copts). The main language is Arabic, but English is widely spoken in tourist areas. The culture is rich and diverse, influenced by ancient, Islamic, and modern elements. You should respect the local traditions and etiquette, such as dressing modestly, especially in religious sites, avoiding public displays of affection, and not taking photos of people without their permission. You should also be aware of the Islamic holidays and festivals, such as Ramadan, Eid al-Fitr, and Eid al-Adha, which may affect the opening hours and availability of some attractions and services.
